Ernie Ball Slinky Stainless Steel Bass Strings
![]() | Ernie Ball Slinky Stainless Steel Slinky Stainless Steels are, as you might guess, stainless steel version of the slinky strings with the round core. These are brighter than the nickel, and follow the same naming structure for gauge. |

These are Ernie Ball Slinky strings using a stainless steel wrapping instead of nickel. Slinky strings are known for being quite bright to begin with, so naturally this is the case with the stainless steel version. Users report a similar scenario of these becoming much less “new” and trebly sounding after a rather short amount of time, which is either a pro or a con depending on what you like (some players prefer a “broken in” sound to the “new string” sound.)
Even within the stainless steel world, these strings are cited as being quite rough on the fingers if you do not have a good callous buildup, and as expected are not as smooth.
